107th Anniversary of Powered Flight
On Friday, December 17, 2010 the First Flight Society and the National Park Service will honor the accomplishments of Wilbur and Orville Wright at the 107th anniversary celebration of powered flight. Events begin at Wright Brothers National Memorial and admission to the park is free that day.
At 8:30 a.m.
there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the boulder which marks the famous
first flight. The Wright brothers
and the witnesses of the first flight will be honored by the National Park
Service and the descendents of the witnesses.
The formal program begins at 8:45 a.m. in the Pavilion, with a patriotic musical prelude by the Northeastern High School Band from Elizabeth City,…

Christmas Sights and Sounds at Fort Raleigh on Roanoke Island offers plenty of fun for the whole family. This seasonal event will run from 5pm to 8pm on December 1st. You will find lots of holiday fun including; horse & carriage rides, holiday musical performances, and an upside down Christmas tree. There are even reports Santa Claus will be making a pre-Christmas appearance.
